As we celebrate the holiday season, starting with Thanksgiving and moving on to Christmas, let us take the time to appreciate the things that are really important in our lives. Here at Hearne Hardwoods we value our family and friends and welcome you our customers to join this group. Let us share with you our love for beautiful wood and you can take the time to make a gift for someone you love. Hand made gifts are treasured through generations and mean much more to the recipient than something anyone can buy at a store. Happy Holidays!

Paduak-Just added to our Internet Store as a hot new special- 12/4 Paduak. This material is 4-12 inches wide by 7-10 feet long. The entire pile is 90% clear. Normally we sell 12/4 Paduak for $18 a board foot, this special is priced at $12 a board foot. A minimum of only 10 board feet is required to order!!!! 350 bf available. To order the Paduak special on line please click here.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Paduak, the wood is a brilliant red-orange. The grain has a banded or ribbon pattern. November's 5/4 Heavy Figured Tiger Maple- We had such a great response to November's Tiger Maple special, that we have decided to continue running it through December. The material is 5/4 (1.25 inches) thick, 8"-20" inches wide, and 8'-12' feet long. It is in flitch form, so the boards have a natural edge. The stain can be planed out of some slabs; others will need to be cut, yielding two-foot increments. This lumber is normally sold around $15 a board foot; we are selling it for $3 a board foot. All material is sold as is and we are requiring a 100 board foot minimum order. If you have any questions concerning quality please give us a call (888) 814 -0007. For complete details and pictures- please see November's newsletter-click here.

Featured Wood: Bubinga

Due to the large amount of interest concerning last month's announcement about our amazing quilted Bubinga slabs, we thought we should feature it as December's "wood of the month".

Bubinga, Guibourtia demeusei, is native to the West Coast of Africa. The wood is a beautiful reddish brown color and because of its fine, tight grain, it is sometimes referred to as "African Rosewood". Trees can grow quite large; five-foot diameter logs are not uncommon, making it an excellent choice for one-piece tabletops. A very durable wood, Bubinga is often used for fine furniture, cabinetry, musical instruments, woodturning, gunstocks, woodcarving, and veneer.

Normal Bubinga lumber runs 3-15 inches wide by 8-16 feet long, however in our Flitch & Log Set inventory we may have slabs up to 67 inches wide and 20 feet long. (To view our flitch and log set inventory please click here.) Plain and figured material is available. The figured material ranges from medium to instrument grade, with quilted, pomelle, and waterfall sometimes available. For more information or to check prices and availability please call (888) 814~0007 or email us at [email protected].
